Do I need planning permission for Windows?

Planning permission is usually only required when replacing windows in a grade II or greater listed building



Do I need planning permission for a conservatory?

Planning permission for conservatories has many aspects. For example: Do you have any other detached buildings on your property within 5m from your home? Are you within 20m of a road or pathway? Has your home already been extended?

All these and any other questions can be answered professionally by our Excel conservatory design team.



Are there any building regulations I need to know about?

Windows: British regulation approval is achieved by our membership to FENSA.

Conservatories: British regulation approval is only required if you are either:

(a) Installing a permanently heated structure that is linked to your existing home system.

(b) You are creating a through room where by there is no external doors between your home and proposed conservatory.



Do we get a guarantee?

Excel guarantees the profiles (outer window frames) for 10 years against discolouration by ultraviolet degradation (UVD) and warping. Glass/sealed Units for 10 years against internal condensation. Handle and locking mechanisms for 10 years.

All Excel installations are carried out in accordance with current building regulations, therefore we are confident enough to apply our comprehensive 10 year guarantee to base works covering items such as subsidence, brickwork movement and flashing degradation.

ALL PVC systems installed by Excel are manufactured in accordance with BS7413 (British Standards)


How long will it take?

Windows: We aim to undertake any window and door installation within 4-6 weeks of signing of contracts.

Conservatories: At Excel our own fully employed staff carry out all our installations. Consequently we can guarantee installation times. For example, we would survey within 7 days of your placing an order and commence base works within 6 weeks of that survey. Subject to both weather conditions and complexity of the project your conservatory should take approximately 6 weeks to complete from commencement. Remember at Excel we do it all in house.
